Practical Prescription Against Stomach Acidity. [Newspaper Article] — Koroit Sentinel and Tower Hill Advocate — 6 March 1915

Practical Prescription Against Stomach Acidity. liy A Si'iiciAr.isr. " Ninc-fcenis of uil cases of stomach trouble nowadays," snys a leading specialist 11 arc caused by too much acid." In the beginning the stomucb itself is not diseased, bin. if this acid condition is allowed to con* tinue, the acid is very likely to eat into the stomach walls and produco stomach ulcer or cancer, either of which may render a radical surgical operation necessary, even to prolong life. Therefore an acid stomach is really a dangerous condition, and should be ircalert seriously. It is utterly useless to talie pepsin and ordinary stomach tablets. The excess acid must be neutralised by ihe administration of an efficient antacid. For this purpose physicians nearly aKvajs recommend taking half a teaspoonful' of biHumtcd magnesia in a little water after cnch meal. Large quantities may be used if necessary, as it is abcolutely harmless, I3ut be sure to get the bisurated magnesia, as other forms of magnesia ha...
