Co-Operative Store For Blayney. [Newspaper Article] — The Blayney Advocate and Carcoar Herald — 19 November 1898

Co-Operative Store For Blayney. A meeting of gentlemen favourable to the establishment .of a co-operative store com bined with a farm and produce store was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday afternoon There was a goodly number present, and they evidenced a strong desire that such an establishment should exist. M r. Whitmse, of Millthorpe, was voted to \ the chair. In the course of some pointed and pithy remarks, the Chairman pointed out the objects and advantages to be gained by establishing a co-operative store. The first and chief thing in making such a success was for them to be united in their action* ann if united there would not be the slight est doubt but that a co-opsrative store would be a great success. He would rather see a large number of srnail shareholders than ' a few large capitalists, and he would suggest that the co-operative store be registered under the Friendly Societies Act, which, he thought, would not allow any single per son to hold more than 200 shar...
