To rae EDTrOn OF rue OE[5TH TirzA. I Sir, I am sorsy to trouble you, but seeing ri a paragraph commenting on our Clerk of l Petty tesions, and complaining of public i: inconvenience, will be my excuse, as I would t like to make a few remarks on the subject- i Iquite agree witb "Di'gust" on the main principles put forwar I b him, but not in detail. As regards the treasurer actin; as Clerk of Courts at Kerang. I think it sh u!ld be at once discontinued: and as rearnds the present treasury Luildin?, it is simply a'dis- . ga,-e to the distr;c:: and the business of the tr?a-cry would not be carried on in any ot'er part of the colony for one day in such a bhx as the Kerang business is conducted in. FROM THE AGE CORRESPONDENT. LONDON, 7th September. [Newspaper Article] — Kerang Times and Swan Hill Gazette — 13 September 1878

FRU03I TIIE .AGE CORil.SPi'ONDE.T. Losnox, 7th September. The disinclination exhibited by Turkey to give up to Greece the small portion of Thessaly allotted to her by the Berlin con gress appears likely to bring about a crisis iii Eastern affairs. Greece, with an army on the frontier of Turkey, threatens,if the terri tory awarded to her by the congress be not at once surrendered, that occupation by her troops must take place. It is rumored that.in' the event of such a step Greece will not be contented with the small ex tension of territory granted to her, but may seek to'make good by force of arms lier claims to a portion of Thrace and Epirus. The attitude of Greece is regarded by the European powers as a serious com plication of affairs. Los?yox Sept. 9. Five. hundred and three bodies have been recovered from the Princess Alice, the excursion steamer which came in collision with another steamer off Woolwich.
