CHAPTEB XVII. Daniel and John at Orthe. Let us now see hove Daniel and John progress. We left them almost on the planet, where is Nonbla, ignor ant of his coming, and his brothers, who are expecting yet dreading his arrival. Into the centre of the great equa torial ocean the vessel plunges, the sudden splash awakening the vojagers, who had been sleeping, Daniel swiftly works his levers and wheels and they rise to the surface and hover above it till he has found out by his operator what direction to take. Presently they alisjht in a little grove of trees, where John is delighted with what appears of the scenery, lit up by the amber blaze of the smaller moon, all of filagree work, of fretted gold appear the leaves and intertwining creepers. John is enchanted. His pleasure however is short lived, for out of the foliage he sees two yellow eyes gazing fiercely at hiui, an l he calls his friend's attention to the unexpected phenomenon.
