The Copperhouse School. [Newspaper Article] — Burra Record — 29 August 1879

The jCopperhonse School. We have been informed that the local Board of Advice has not met since the petition to them asking for a reconsider ation of the CoDPerhouse school ques tion was prepared, but that they meet to-dav and that then the matter will come up. We understand that the Chairman and at least one other member of the Board favor the scliool so that there is a probability that the false sup taken may be retraced as we earnestly hope will be the case. The following references to the case are from Hansard, last Tuesday's Parliament : — . Clark & Sons have been engaged by the Bum Corporation to bore for water in that town; The hardness or the rock ft a depth of SO feet was so great that the rods used by the ordinary boring-machine would make no impression. Owing to this circum stance Messrs. Clark A Sons set to work to manufacture a drill or borer that would pene trate the hardest substance more rapidly and economically. The boring, or drill tool, they nave made consists of four part*. Toe top por tion is screwed on to a drill j,r whfeh is so ?Ranged with a key through a dot that when a blow is struck the returning blow strikes it behind, and so loosens the drill from the rock, and prevents the tool from jamming. Tbemds en screwed together with two-inch j...
