WOOD'S POINT. seldom take pace ere, ave a r y their appearanon. The Hope Company's mill, which for the most of its time .hs been able to crush with water, will now have to use steam power. A number, of men from.this claim had to hbe paid off on Satur day last, in consequence of the scarcity of water. Mr John Paryv, of Matlock, is using his best efforts to collect as much money as will enable the good folks of that place to get up races during the Christmas holidays. During the week 'Mr Parry made a raid upon the business people of this borough, soliciting subscriptions for the object. As yet he has not been very successful, the publicans and others thinking that they would be sending the money away from their own coffers.
