___ t _ V __? T __ te _______________ - __ i __ Co-OpeFation in Regard to Hog Cholera Br Dr . Paul Fischer Hogr cholera has been in the lime light enough in the last three years , that I need not enter into the pathology of the disease or state how prevalent it is . The vital question is , how to control it , with eradication as the ultimate aim in view . And , it will be eradicated before many years without as great an expenditure of money as the eradication of Texas fever will require . First—better sanitary laws are needed . Minnesota has a provision requiring the burning or burying of hog cholera carcases ; a provision permitting quarantining of infected herds , and a provision requiring the disease to be reported to the Sanitary Commission . Indiana permits the removal of hogs , showing no symptoms , from infected pens , providing the vehicle of transportation does not scatter litter , and providing all litter from the carrying vehicle is burned when the hogs are unloaded ; and...

Reports from , ihe _ W _ W _ .- [Newspaper Article] — Better Farming — 1 January 1915

Reports from , ihe _ W _ W _ .- I EXPERIMENT STATIONS HI / . . Watch Your Seed PotatoejiPotato growers are being urgttt to store their seed stock this yea _ , n * ttth the greatest care and to keep _ 8 » e watch of their seed bins throughout _ he winter . L The reason for this special precaution is that owing to unusual weather * conditions last fall late blight attacked many of the fields and gained entrance into the tubers . If we are to have sound seed stock for planting next spring , it will be necessary for us to remove from the bins all rotten tubers and those with blight spots , declares James G . Milward , secretary of the Wisponsin Potato Growers Association . According to him the vitality of the potato seed depends very largely upon how it is stored during . the winter months , and anything which , in any way injures the stored tuber is sure to result in decreased vitality of vine growth the following season . Two conditions to avoid in storing potatoes are—varying tempera...
