KAW VALLEY POTATOES [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Packer — 13 July 1907

KAW VALLEY POTATOES MOVEMENT BO FAR HAS BEEN SOMEWHAT LIGHT . H .. vy Shipment . Cooked For Next Week—Price , of New Spnd . Sharply lower —Th . Early Shipments Were Too Green . , Kansas City , July 13 . —New spuds are not moving out of the Kaw valley in the volume that was anticipated . The trade has become so accustomed to declining prices that carlot buyers delayed their purchases more than usual and the re * suit was that , prices hit the toboggan . The market went down 20 to 25 c per bushel during , the early part of the week and most of-the time was very unsettled . All of the towns . in the Kaw valley section have been represented in shipments of a few stray cars , but the movement will probably not become general until well into next week . Buyers will by that time have every assurance that tlie potatoes will not be green . Local operators predict a much livelier demand than has existed . It is known that more than one St . Louis firm has had ( buyers in the Kaw valley sectio...

FRUITS IN KANSAS CITV . [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Packer — 13 July 1907

FRUITS IN KANSAS CITV . AN ACTIVE DEMAND FOR PEACHES - NOT ENOUGH COMING . Quality of Apple . Is Improving—Trad . In Lemons , Oranges and BananasBerries for the Moat Part Scarce . Kansas City , July 13 . —Elberta peaches were received in slightly larger quantities this week than last and averaged about 25 o per four basket crate , lower in price . But the supply is still far from being liberal and the demand can hardly be supplied . The slightly lower prices were partly the result of the presence on the market of some delayed shipments , that fell below the required standard as to quality . New apples also showed up in larger volume and wero of much better quality as a rule than the preceding week . The call from local buyers improved greatly , tout was not urgent enough to prevent slightly lower prices . Offerings disappeared quickly at the decline . Lemons jumped 75 c to $ 1 . 35 per box : on California stock and about 25 c on Messinas . Seasonable weather was the cause of the adv...
