Humboldt Valley. — A gentleman, lately arrived from over the plains, states that on the 18th of June he was in Humboldt Valley, about one hundred miles from head waters. On that day it commenced raining, and rain fell incessantly during the subsequent four days. The same gentleman informs us, that a small parly of emigrants were there out of provisions, and were under the necessity of killing a horse, (which had been left by an advanco party because it was too weak to travel,) and using its flesh for food to prevent starvation. New Arrangement. — Hawley & Co. have purchased the interest of Angle «§f Co.'s Express, together with the exclusive privilege of running the express daily on the steamers Senator and Gold Hunter. Mr. Justin Spear, the former proprietor of Angle $• Co.'s Express, will conduct the business of the office in »San Francis- o. Correspondence of the Sacramento Transcript. [Newspaper Article] — Sacramento Transcript — 8 July 1850

Correspondence of the Sacramento Transcript. Marysville, July Ist, 1850. Gentlemen : Since the Grand Iniiian Council of last week, I have not Been able to ascertain anything connected with their proceedings which could be relied upon, save that the Indians took every precaution to keep their proceedings from the knowledge of the whites, and were to keep their meeting a secret if possible. 1 have conversed with several gentlemen, men who have long been residents of California, and whose opinions, from their intimacy and true knowledge of Indian character, should entitle them to considerable weight, and they tell me, that the proceedings of the Indians throughout the country are truly ominous in the extreme. i One of these gentlemen informs me that about three weeks since the tribes adjoining the nnche of one of our old and most respectable citizens held fe. long " council talk," iv which the {manoeuvres of ihe Indians were so manifestly suspicious, that at its close, the proprietor c...
