Ten res- idents volunteered to pass out treats in their rooms for the little Trick or Treaters. A monster greeted the guests. Many families, mends and staff members responded to the invita- tions. There was a lot of toe tapping and clapping, and some dancing as the band played. Ginger- bread, hot spiced cider, and coffee were served. All together it was a great evening as over 100 young people (ages 3 to 95) shared the music, refreshments and good times. On Wednesday the Bas- trop Nursing Center lad- ies had a "tea." The loss ended what- ever hopes the Tigers, now 2-2 in district play, had of catching Luling and Giddings. Smithville is now 3-5 for the year. Elgin, on the other hand, raised its 25 A A record to 3-2 and is 4-4-1 for the year. The final score was somewhat misleading as several bad breaks hurt the Tigers offensively. After an interception by linebacker Cliff Perry in the first quarter, Elgin moved 49 yards in seven plays for the game's first touchdown on a 13- yard run by sophomore Barry Harvey.
