Fge2 'Vmwmiot The Brand December 8 1995 Andrew Boss managing editor Set the parking brake firmly. Put the shift lever in "P" (Park). Turn off the engine. The equipment you'll need is in the trunk. Now loosen all the wheel nuts. Don't remove them though. Now raise the car. Keep rotating the wheel wrench on the jack to the right (clockwise). Stop when the flat tire and wheel are off the ground. Take off the wheel nuts. Take off the tire and wheel. Put on the compact spare tire. Put the lug nuts back on and lower the car. Tighten the wheel nuts firmly in a criss-cross sequence. The wheel cover will not fit on the compact spare. Now put all the equipment back in the car. Does this sound familiar? This is something with which everyone must deal with at one point in their driving career...changing a tire. It is some- thing no one looks forward to but it is something that must be done. There is no way to avoid it. If you want to use your vehicle you have to do it And since so many of us de...

lOTimmiiMSffliMT Page The Brand Decembers 1995 Toy Story's computer animation is must-see for everyone Toys develop lovable personalities in Disney Classic By Holly Beard staff writer The much talked about movie Toy Story is definitely a show worth viewing. It has something to offer everyone of all ages from the incredible use of computer animation to an imaginative story brought to life by the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. The movie four years in the making is the first ever to be produced solely by computers. Due to the use of 3-D com- puter animation the toys are able to come to life in a world of their own. The storyline focuses on the relation- ship between two rival toys. Woody whose voice is that of Hanks is a tradi- tional pull-string talking cowboy who has long been the favorite of six-year old Andy. He is considered to be the leader and peacemaker in the group of toys. Woody is looked up to by the other toys. Woody's role takes a turn and his confi- dence is shaken wh...

OP(DMm The Brand December 8 1995 Fage7 Cowboys come up short in quarterfinal matchup ByJoshBowerman sports editor The Hanlin-Simmons University Cowboys could not overcome a furious fourth-quarter blitz by the Central Washington University Wildcats last Saturday as they lost their National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics quarterfinal game 40-20. The Cowboys racked up over 400 yards of total offense but it was not enough to surpass Central Washington's five touchdown passes. HSU opened the scoring on their opening possession of the game as they drove the length of the field. The drive stalled on the Wildcat six yard line however and HSU had to settle for a 23-yard Brian Beddow field goal. After jockeying for field position the rest of the first quarter Central Washington opened the second quarter with a touchdown and would never look back. Central Washington's jamie Christian scored on a one-yard plunge but the extra point was blocked leaving the score at 6-3. Beddow tied the...

It is this year's champions and next year's teams. It is a rallying cause and the cause of some of the most heated arguments in the world. It k pride and prejudice. It is purely American. Jimmy Pogue May 3 1985 The Brand I sit here and ponder the thought written above and I'm wondering if thug-ball is in any way implied. Page 4 The Brand - January 251995 Faith Hopf Love What does online love and church camp have in common? I was watching Jenny Jones a . few weeks ago and couldn't believe what I saw. It was a follow-up show to people who fell in love online. Cyber-junkies that found romance on the net So far it sounds harmless enough right? The problem I had with the show was that Jenny's guests had only known each other for a matter of weeks and most had never even seen a picture of the other . . . none had met. But they all felt like they had really gotten to know one another by "chatting" online after all most had been spending five or ten hours aday with their new sweetheart (If you're unfamiliar with "chatting" online the way it works is that you type a message on your computer screen and then press "send." Instantly that mes- sage appears on someone else's screen and they can answer you the same way.) The crazy part of the show was that the majority of the guests wanted to ask the person they h...

January 251995 The Brand Page 7 Pro-choice is not common place at HSU By Bethany Carlisle staff writer Abortion has become one of the most heated and controversial issues of this century. Tempers are exacerbated by mutual misunderstanding between pro-choice and pro-life advocates on both sides of the abortion fence. As with many issues that gen- erate strong feelings the general public is exposed mostly to extreme views from each side. The consequence is that opposing sides view each other with hostility and anger. Due to the conservative nature of the Hardin- Simmons University student-body finding those who support pro-choice at the Forty Acres is difficult. Many students here at HSU who hold pro-choice views are reluctant to voice their opinions for fear of criticism and ridicule by more conservative peers. One such student who supports a moder- ate pro-choice stance agreed to give an anonymous interview in order to create better understanding between students. The student interv...
