Terara Chronicles. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 1 July 1893

Terara Chronicles. And it came to pass about this time that there were gathered together at N ? many of the elders and apostles, in order to testify of the good things that had been done and spoken in the land. And after many bad testified how they had approached near unto Sirduffj and had even touched the hem of his garment without being struck down by lightning ; and others had added their testimony as to their having seen the blue blood of aristocracy coursing gently through his veins : There arose from among them one called Si-si, who spake joyfully unto his assembled brethren, saying : — 'Lo, now mj brethren, how the councillors of our land have triumphed over the Philistines who had encom passed as about, and spread their snares and nets, entangling many of our young men ; yea, even our old men fell into the snares and away from our folds. For the voice of the Philistine spake to them, saying : — ' Gome now ye gulls and foolish ones, bring unto me but one shekel and per advent...

"It Fears Neither Army Nor Navy." [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 1 July 1893

'It Fears Neither Army Nor j Wavy.' Those things uBed to be called the wooden trails of Kugland.' The scene was the Naval Exhibition at Chelsea, in the summer of 1891. The speaker was a young man, and his auditor one of those lithe, brighthaired girls one go often sees in this island, £l A ? J ? _»A 4.1 ? A., ? a__ ? ** - - ** JiOgland, now ? ' she said, as a child might ask when Noah might be expected In Liverpool with his ark, *' Not exactly/' replied her escort tenderly ; ' they are rather out of style. Come ; I'll show what sorts of walls we have now,' and he led her off in the direction of the beautiful models of the great steel ships of war. She young fellow was right in assuming that thb country had a big and powerful navy, but the chances of war decrease with the preparations made to meet it Besides, the interests that would be put to hazard grow constantly larger and nations avoid fighting as long aa possible, This is a hopeful consideration, and if England had nothing to b...

Some Dairy Cattle. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 1 July 1893

Some Dairy Cattle Mr. Thompson, of the Hawkesbury College, recently stated that one of tho best herds of dairy cattle in the colonies is that formed by Mr. E. De Mestre (of racing fame), who discarded the stud book, and made it a point to purchase the cows on board mail steamers and immigrant ships as they arrived, in port from London, Liverpool, Glasgow nnd Cork. He did: not caro (remarks the Australian Agriculturist for June) how ugly or fine-bred they were so long as they were good milkers and produced large quantities of rich milk. Some poopie laughed at his varied type of dairy cows, hut they paid him better than breeding f rom jedigren stock. Mr. De Mestrc reasoned to himself that the ship owner nt home was not likely to buy a cow for the use of passengers if it was a bad milker. It was just as easy to buy a good milker as a bad one, and the consequence was that the pro vidore would take care that nonn would go on board hut cows guaranteed as good economic milkers. Mr. Do Mest...
