The Benalla Ensign. Published Weekly. BENALLA, FRIDAY, SEP. 9, 1870. [Newspaper Article] — The Benalla Ensign and Farmer's and Squatter's Journal — 9 September 1870

Publised Weekly. ,JENALLA, FRIDAY, SEP. 9, 1870. Ar.rouou perhaps unexpeoted at the precise morenut of its occurrence, it cannot be said that hi'war at present raging between France and Prussia is a matter, of surprise. The German ination have liked the Spanish and Portuguese since the days of Le Petite Corporal, but the . power of the two latter States has gradually ) declined, hence their hatred or their friendshbip is a matter of but little import. Not so with Germany. By recent successes, Prussia haa become the representative power in the German nation, and has a large and well-dis ciplined army to. ight her battles. Although there are some who think that portions of Germany will not make common cause with Prussia, we think that excepting Austria, a general disposition will be shown to support the Prussians against the French. The news which we received from England told us that numbers of Germans who were living away from their native country were returning to it in order to ta...
