The rebellion., in Tripoli originated in the intrigue' of a well-known native iijfitator Baruui, who fled from Tripoli, aiid' returned supplied with TurkoeGr uvan funds. He: declared he was authorised by the Sultan to organise a rebellion against1 Italy and stirred up two tribes whp | concentrated three columns estimated. at j 6000 strong against the Italian friendly tribes. The Italians attacked the approach- j ing columns and completely routed the enemy after live hours' stiff fighting. The enemy left four hundred dead on the field. Tlie Italian casualties were not heavy. The pursuit of the enemy is being- followed up.
