FOOTBALL BENALLA-TUNGAMAH LEAGUE TUNGAMAH DEFEATS BENALLA. [Newspaper Article] — Benalla Ensign — 19 August 1938

FOOTBALL BENALLA-TUNGAMAH   LEAGUE TUNGAMAH DEFEATS BENALLA. Conditions were almost perfect for football on Saturday last when Ben- alla played on the Tungamah ground, and a very fine crowd attended. At their previous encounters' this season Tungamah had won each game, but by the narrow margins of five points and 3 points, and the local team, which was at full strength for the first time this season, was very san- guine of turning the tables on this occasion. However, they were dissap- pointed, as right from the start they appeared to be playing off the wrong foot, and they could do very little right throughout the day. McLean, who was suffering from a weak ankle, Hicks and Gillett, who have all been playing such brilliant football of   late, each had an off day, whilst May, the best player on the ground, the Skinner and O'Kane brothers, Cooper and Haebich, played like champions for the winners. There were often clashes between the players, but Um- pire Woo...
