Skiers Fly Through Snow by Sue Sammons Staff Writer Look out! Behrend's ski club is coming down the slopes. There I was on the baby hill practicing my snow plow when I heard the warning cry. I looked up and there they were. One hundred and fifty of them. Charging through the snow, a jungle of goggles, skis, bindings and poles, and coming straight at me. Wandering down in the lead were Behrend's finest: Jim Myers, Al Davis, Rex White and Gary Pisoni, hot dogging through space. My heart sank. I felt powerless. Onward they came, churning up a snowcloud. They were getting closer. They was nothing I could do to stop them and I saw that many of them could not do anything either. So I picked up my poles and got the hell out of their way. Even though this year has afforded generally poor snow conditions, members try to ski at Peak 'N Peek on Tuesday evenings and Thursday afternoons. With a dollar membership fee, they receive discounts on lessons, equipment rentals and lift costs. A ...

Park Pioneers Outscore Cubs by Bill Neely Sports Writer Last Saturday night the Behrend Cubs tangled with their toughest opponent of the basketball season when the Point Park Pioneers invaded the Gannon Auditorium in the first Hosted in Gannon College auditorium, the Behrend Cubs versus Point Park College, played a fine game, considering Behrend was up against a higher classed team. game of a doubleheader. Behrend stayed close in the first half but the highly touted Pioneers broke open the game in the second half and coasted to a 93-53 victory. The Cubs, who were playing in Gannon Auditorium for the first time, were a bit nervous at the onset of the contest and nothing would go in the basket. However Point Park did not play up to par either in the first half and led only 34-23 at the mid-way point. As the second half got underway Point Park started to establish itself under the boards and Bob Spellmen and Jim Ney hit jumpshots from all over the floor. During the first fo...

Lastly, there will be an ice fishing contest at Lake Pleasant later _^Wlfrr'l seems that the deer from Erie County and from this end of New York yard-up along the state line. There aren't many there this winter but there are enough to consistently see small bunches of deer in the fields. The best fields to look for the deer in are the fields that get enough sunshine to melt the snow. Seeing deer during the winter has always added to my drives in the country, maybe if you get a chance to get out you will enjoy it too. I_^ Hehrend's intramural Hwling league rolled into its K...

Civil law—seven acts make 18-year-olds-and-over legal adults in making a will, entering into binding contracts, obtaining * a marriage license, and others. Famous Hypnotist Appearing Feb. 14 A two day John Wayne Film Festival and an appearance by hypnotist-mentalist Kolisch are being sponsored by the Student Union Board this week. "Big Jim McLain" and "Rio Bravo" kick off the film festival on Saturday night at 10 p.m. "Big Jim McLain" is most notable for its post-war contemporary setting (a rarity for John Wayne) and its introduction of a young actor who was soon to become the hero of the "adult" - western, James Arness. In "Rio Bravo", Wayne portrays a sheriff - .of a small town, who, in trying to bring a- killer to justice, finds himself battling an army of gunmen. Supporting Wayne are Dean Martin, Walter Brennan, Angie Dickinson and Ricky Nelson. The festival continues Sunday night at 7 with "Operation Pacific" and "The Searchers". "Duke" plays the part of a submarine commander during World War II in "Operation Pacific." He gives one of his best performances as the action switches from torpedo attacks to rescue operations to...

New Alumni At Behrend By Sandor J. Vargyai Staff Writer In keeping with Behrend's new college.status, the formation of a Behrend College Alumni Association is under' consideration. How to begin such an alumni organization was a topic for discussion at a meeting attended by Director Kochel, Mr. Robert Altsman Jr., president of the Erie Penn State Alumni Association, Mr. Douglas Moorhead, past member of The Penn State Alumni Council, Dean Benjamin Lane, Dean Betty Seanor, Walker Moore, and Sandor J. Vargyai, or January 31. Either Behrend can begin an alumni association under the auspices of The Pennsylvania State University Alumni Association, or it can form an _organization independent from the present Pennsylvania University alumni system. There are benefits to be derived from both approaches, but the final decision must remain with the students themselves. Another topic of discussion was the areas in which Behrend could benefit from an alumni organization. - These benefits ...
