My room overlooks the piazza , the roof of which serves as a table for them . I have been making a study of these little creatures , who seem to be classified by people in general with street gamins and slum element , but I find that , with all their unpopularity , they are very cunning and certainly possess traits strongly akin to the human family . I was soon able to distinguish the male from...

Perhaps they are thinking of going to the city to join in the mad rush for existence . Why don t you Send them to the Southwest where in a few years each of them can become independently rich ? It will take only a- few dollars to » tart them—good land is so cheap in the Southwest . If they are hustling fellows , they will soon be doing so well youll want to sell out and join them . It s much easier to make a good living in the Southwest than in the older states . You can get from 10 to 20 acres in the Southwest for the price of one where you live and the land is just as good . HOUSEHOLD DEPARTMENT [Newspaper Article] — Ohio Farmer — 16 March 1907

HOUSEHOLD DEPARTMENT I SPECIAL ARTICLE NO . 6 . TrainingOurFiveDaughters=3S Bi > JULIA GAGE . GE . RRISH . Discipline . — But now as to discipline , in the more generally accepted meaning of the term . How early to take some means to check unpleasant exhibitions of temper , etc . ? I should answer : As soon as those exhibitions occur . It Is remarkable how early a baby will understand .
