Dame, arrested for complicity in Che Mountain Meadows massacre, was brought to this city yesterday and lodged in the Penitentiary. Ho con verses freely on general topics, but is reticent concerning the massacre. Dispatches received to-day say that Brigham Young cannot survive many days. His malady defies medical skill. The late journey to St. George resulted in hastening \\\-* disorders to Bs fatal termination. The District Court to-day refused the petition of George tj. Cannon for admission to bail for trial next March anil ordered that he give bonds to ap pear at the December term. George Rothschilds, of Cambria, committed suicide on Ihe 23d el No vember. A large area of land in the foot-hills east of San Jose is being planted in grain. A lively shook of earthquake was experienced in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday. The San Luis Obispo Tribune is ad vocating tho issue of bonds to be ex pended in Improving tbe roads of that county. The guns fired at Alcatraz and on the Benicia in welcome of King Kala kaus, Sunday morning, were plainly heard in Valfejo. The late storms ruined many tons of grapes in Napa county, especially in the vicinity of St. Helena. Many vintners lose heavily. Herald Publishing Company: Gentlemen —We ship to the Her ald to-day a font of long primer type, made especially for printing election tickets according to the new require ments of the Code. We have hud each Individual type carefully ami separately examined aud passed upon by the Secretary of State anil pro nounced a new Code Long Primer. None genuine unless the name of Drury Malone Is blown in the cork. You can now furnish election tickets without the least error in their pro duction. We remain, very respectfully, etc., Head, Brand & Co. Candidates will see to it that they have their tickets printed at the Her ald oflice and then they will be cor rect, as we have secured new type and new paper, cut according to the re quirements of the new Code.
