The following article appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle on May 10: Thoso hero interested in tho steamer Monteerrat and its cargo deny emphat ically that any war supplies whatever aro to be shipped on her to Chilo. It appears that the steamer was chartered by J. Grace & Co., of this city, to carry a cargo of general merchandise, mninly flour and grain, to South Amer ica. The vessel will sail on Friday next, consigned to Grace & Co's houso at Callao. There she w ill probably bo or dered to some Chilian port. Whether the cargo is sold or shipped in specula tion tho firm hero declines to say.
