Tue Santa Fe Traders.?We arc glad to be jblc to announce the safe arrival of the whole of the Caravan of Traders who left Santa Fe on the jgt of April. A part of them reached this city this morning in the Occana, from Wcston : the remainder of the party arc at Independence. The Company were, we learn, well advised of thepre gence of the Texan Colonel on the waters of the Arkansas, and were prepared to give him a pro? per reception. He had his spies in Santa Fe, Ilching the movements of the traders, and three of them left that place two or three days in ad? vance of the Company to give him news of their approach. They saw nothing of the Colonel, although he was no doubt in their neighborhood. The servants of Mr. Chavis, who were with him when he was robbed by McDaniel'a gan<r, carnc ia with this Company, and are now at Indepen ce, where they will remain until called for by the Court. We understand that the specie on board the Oceana is principally the property of Mexican citizens,...

The vcar 17^3 was one of many important and interesting events, both in America and Europe. With remind to our domestic politics, parties bad taken a decided character, in and out of Congress. The Members, who dispersed to their respective , homes when a Constitutional period was pot to the existence of the Second Congress, on th- :m of March, 1793, separated with obvious symptoms of extreme irritation; and it was not to be doubted that their utmost efforts would be exerted to corn mtmicate to their constituents the ill humor which rankled in their own bosoms. 'Novel Steamer.?A steamer of very peculiar construction has been in use for the last three months on the river Rhone, France. Besides the ordinary means of locomotion by side-wheels, it has another large wheel of east iron, upwards of fifteen feet in diameter. This wheel, which ic raised and depressed according to the stage of water in the Rhone, is armed with strong teeth, which give it a linn hold, as it revolves, on the bottom of the river's bed, whereby a degree of re. sistancc is obtained that imparts immense power lo the machinery. This plan is the invention of u Vcrpilleu.x.' His boat is called the Grapin? fGrappler.; It is employed in carrying ore an^ iron from Lavonlte to l^vors. We drink the memory of the brave, The faithlul and the few Some lie far orf beyond the wave, Some sleep in Ireland, too : All?all are gone?but still lives on The fame of those who died ; All true men. like you. men. Remember them with pride. Some on the shores of distant lands Their weary hearts have bid. And by the stranger's heedless hands Their lonely graves were made. But, though their clay be far away Beyond the Atlantic foam? In true men, like you, men. Their spirit's still at homo.
