NO. 40 FRIGHTFUL WRECK AT DANVILLE Mine Were Killed And Seven Were Injured WITNESSED BY WOMEN AND CHILDREN Engine and Three Mail Cars and One ex? press Car Plunged From Trestle and Fell Seventy-Five Feet. Danville, Va., Sept. 18.?Train No. 97, operating between New York aud New Orleans, the fastest train on the Southern railway, was wrecked just outside of the city limits yesterday afternoon. The train left the track just as the engine was enter? ing upon a high trestle that spans a creek north of the city. The engine, followed by three mail and one exprese cars, ran some distance on the trestle, plunging along the croes ties, and falling seventy-five feet to the water below.
