The club took part in the 1 lth anual Dyesss-Abilene 10K Road Race on Oct 28. Also venturing out for the road race were Dr. Ron Rainwater and Dr. Joe Alcoru. The school's team faired well in a field of 120 participants. Two standouts for the club were Glorietta Acosu and Amanda Arnold. At the HSU Homecoming SK Fun Race on the crisp Sayurday Morning last weekend members of the community and the HSU staff stepped on the line and ventured through the Forty-Acre course. The overall winner was Scott Vance with Dr. Robert Fink coming in a close second. For the women the overall winner was Amanda Arnold. Jennifer Reid finished second in the over- all category. The win improved HSU to 7-1 on the year and moved the Cowboys within one game of clinching their third consecutive Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association title and their fourth straight appearance in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics playoffs. HSU comeback Danarius Robinson got the homecoming crowd rocking right off the bat as he returned the game's opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. Hardin-Simmons is the headquarters for the Texas Undergraduate Moot Court Association and Dr. Virginia Armstrong sponsor for the program is the chair of the steering committee which is made up of five other team coaches from around the state. The undergraduate moot court program in Texas had been going on since the late 1980's before Hardin-Simmons first became involved in 1991. Hispanic Fellowship is a ministry team that started five years ago in con- junction with the BSM. Their mission is to reach out to the Hispanic children in the low income areas surrounding Hardin- Simmons University. The group works with a Hispanic mis- sion church called Iglesia Templo Bautista pastored by Julian Bridges head of HSU's department of sociology. They stink! With miserable efforts like Drop Zone and the recent Too Wong Foo... under his belt. Snipes may be losing many fans of his earlier movies like New Jack City and White Men Can't Jump . Money Train while not as bad as some again restricts Snipes to cheap fight scenes and cheaper humor.
