FLOWER SHOW. A meeting of ladies and gentlemen in tcrestud in the Church of England Snow was hold at St. Paul's School-room on Tuesday evening. The Von. Archdeacon Holt . ucoupied .tho chair and there were also present Mesdames Wamoclc, Brough tnn. Wvse. Wilshire. Sale. Wilkinson. Braim, Laman, M'Cullough, Graham, and Watson, and Messrs Henty, Weir,. Beaumont, Laman, Wysp. and W. N. Watson. MrH.J. Henty (honsec) road thereportof the sub-committee appointed to draw up the prize list, which was ap proved with a few minor alterations, t was announced that a large number of donations had been promised to the prisa fund. Arefreshmentcommittee, consisting of Mesdames Broughton, Warnock, Wil kinson, 'Wysr, and Graham, were ap pointed.; and MrsW. N. Watson con sented, to look after : the musical pro gramme on the evening of the Saow, which i» to take place on the 23rd instant.

A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. On Monday last Mr itobert Buist nnd Mr Harry Cobden had a miraculous escape from death. Toe twe men were employed . in effecting repairs -tA Tatter s»ll s Hotel, and in order to cement-wash the outside walls of the building they erected scaffolding by placing two planks in the upstair windows on both fides of the passige. ; It appears tbat onb of the red gum planks had at some time been sawn ?almost through, but that owing, to die dirt which . had become -imbedded, in the cut it was unnoticed. The men had not been at work for any length of time when the plank gave way nnd both were precipitated to the ground—1* distance of about 20ft. It wftsfe?red'by those' who witnessed' the occurrence that both men had been fatally injured,' hat fortunately such was not the 'case, aa after the excite ment had passed away it was' found that both men had had a wonderful escape.
