On Sunday last services were held in the ,ahran Independent Church, in connection g;th the SaLbthl School Anniversary, whlen sermons were lireached, in the morning by the Rev. W. H. Fletcher, and ins the evening by the Hev. Isaace New. In the afternoon addresses were delivered by tl:e Rdv. W. Mioss (the pastor) and some of the teachers. Reference to our repurt of thle St. Kilda Council will show that Councillor Bunny offered an expla nati-n of the part he took at the meeting of council with reference to granting the use of tile Town-hall fir an entertainment in aid of the Floods Relief Fund. In reprinting the comments of the Age thereon we guarded ourselves againist endorsiog themn, well knowing the animus entertained by that paper against the St. Kilda Council. At tli a time we tilought Mr. Bunny's action had given the ge ostlensible ground for its ondlaught. Now, howcv?, we are convinced this view was an incorrect one, and we nccordloglyyexptoss our regret at havilng expressed it. In thie Legislative Council, a motion was carried to the effect that a message be transmitted to thie Legislative Assembly, requesting that they would he pleased to communicate to the Council a copy of the report from the committee appointed by the Assemb'.y, on the 3rd day of May in last year, to prepare an address.to his Excellency Sir Charles Darling, and to consider and report on the steps the Assembly should take with respect to his being relieved from his position as Officer Administering her Majesty's Government in this colony.
