LECTURE AT DROUIN : ROADS, RAILROADS, AND GEORGE STEPHENSON. [Newspaper Article] — Warragul Guardian and Buln Buln and Narracan Shire Advocate — 26 May 1881

LECTURE AT IDROUIN: ROADS, RAILROADS, AND GEORGE STEPHENSON. -4---~ On Friday evening last, the above interest ing subject was made matter for a lecture by Sir James McCulloch. Ample notice hav ing been given of the event, the Mechanics' Instntat on the night of the. ecture, was very fairly filled indeed, with an appreciative audience. Mr. John Henry having been voted to the chair, introduced the lecturer, and informed those present that the lecture to be given was the first of a series which Sir James had kindly consented to deliver in aid of the funds of the Presbyterian Church of Drouin. The lecturer, on rising, was heartily applauded, and commenced his observations by remarking that although the subjectl he had chosen might be milled a prosiae and matter of fact one, nevertheless, its nature was such as would tend to the mutual advancement of those present, inas much as they were more or less directly in terestel in the subject of roads.
