OPEN COLUMN. To the Editor of the Hawkesbury Chronicle, [Newspaper Article] — Hawkesbury Chronicle and Farmers Advocate — 8 July 1882

OPEN COLUMN To the Editor of the Hawkesbury Chronicle, DEAR Sm,-Per favour of your valuable paper, I have to complain of the kleptomaniac tendencies of a certain class of the community ¡ jn Windsor, who are in the habit of tamper ; ing with the p'ants and flowers placed over my late deceased mother's- grave, in the Church of England Cemetery. Noir, Mr. Editor, you will, I am sure, con cur with me in admitting that this offence is wrong. Seeing that I have at great trouble and expense to myself-not forgetting the journey from Sydney to Windsor-to plant these flowers, I am compelled to complain of the constant pilfering of the same, after being placed in the ground only a few days. It seems, dear sir, that the Churchwardens have no remedy at all for preventing the above malicious proceeding whatever, in the Ceme- tery here in Windsor ; but such would not be allowed to occur in the cemeteries around Sydney, without being brought to account. Apologising for trespassing so much Upon your...

RICHMOND POLICE COURT. FRIDAY, 30TH JUNE, 1882. (Before Mr. W, Lamrock, J.P). [Newspaper Article] — Hawkesbury Chronicle and Farmers Advocate — 8 July 1882

RICHMOND POLICE COURT. FRIDAY, 30TH JCNE, 18S2. (Before Mr. W, Lamrock, J.P). Cornelieus McMahon v. John Riley-both of Sally's Bottoms, for trespassing on enclosed lands at that place, on the 22nd June-the said land being in the occupation of plaintiff. The plaintiff and his two sons, gave evidence as to the paddock being enclosed all round. Some five years ago the road had been sur- veyed bv Mr. Pitt, surveyor, but it had never been proclaimed, and plaintiffs counsel (Mr. Walker), produced a letter from the Govern- ment to show that it had not been. The plain- tiffs son, 'thomas McMahon, said that he saw defendant cut down saplings with an axe, near the p'ace where the alleged trespass took place, in order to get through into the bush. De- fendant contended that there was no trespass, as the road had been a right of way for the last 40 or 50 years. He was at the place in- dicated on the 22nd of the month, with a horse and spring cart, when plaintiff and his sons came up and ordered...
