It would appear that the tin lortunate deceased, whose name was .lames M'Gardncr, had had some words with a person who goes by the name of " Britain," and they wont together" to the tent of a third party, named Fran cis Grattan, where the murder.' was committed. The weapon used was u bludgeon of about two feet in length, and as thick as a man's wrist. The head of deceased was beaten into a perfect mummy. An inquest was held on the following day before Dr Pierce, and the following evidence taken - Francis Grattan, of Jones' (.reek, examined by the assistance of a sworn interpreter, deposed: .I am a gold digger residing on .(ones' Creek.
