Practical Prescription Against Stomach Acidity. BY A SPECIALIST. "Nine-tenths of all cases of stom ach trouble nowadays," says a lead ing specialist, "are caused by too much acid. In the beginning the stomach itself is not diseased, but if this acid condition is allowed to continue, the acid is very likely to eat into the stomach walls and pro duce stomach ulcer or cancer, either of which may render a radical sur gical operation necessary, even to prolong life. Therefore an 'acid stomach' is really a dangerous con dition and shonld be treated seri ously. It is utterly useless to take pepsin and ordinary stomach tableis. The excess acid must be neautra lised by the administration of an efficient antacid. For this purpose physicians nearly always/ecommend taking half a teaspoonful of bisuratcd magnesia in a little water after each meal. Larger quantities may be used if necessary, as it is absolutely harmless. But be sure to get the bisuratcd magnesia, as other forms of magnesia have n...
