LATEST The St. Louis papers of 25th September contain authentic intelligence of the capture of Santa Fe. without opposition_, by the forces under Gen. Kearney. The new* was brought by the steamer Little Missouri, from Fort Leavenwoi ill. The mail Irom Santa Fe reached the fort in 28 diiys. The captuie took p lace on the 18th August. A remarkable fact connected with Urn capture is, it will be seen, that Gen. Kearney declares his purpose to annex hll New Mexico to the Uuiied States, on both sides of the Bio Grande. 'Ihe St. Louis Republican contains the diary of _aa officer belonging to the expedition, in which the occurrences of each day are noted. His account of the cap turn it as follows: " Juesday, _August 18. —Started as usual, and at six milci came to the Cannon, where tho Mexican armv, under Armijo. had bean assembled. There had been 3,-000 troops there, but it seems that the nearer we approached them, the fewer they became, and when we passed through they had ail gone....

From the far West. The St. Louis Republican of the 22d am) 23d contains the following information : FKOM FORT LEAVENWORTH, The steamer Brrtrand arrived at this port yesterday Irom the Missouri. Msj. Stuart, Paymaster ol this district, vvas a _pasienger. We learn that before leaving Furl Leavenworth, he paid to the nine companies of the 3d _Regiment of Missouri Volunteers, then at that post, the commutation lor one yrar's clothing, It is said, that Ihe order dispensing with the seivice ol these volunteers, was issued in consequence of the reception of despatches Irom Gen.
