. . . ^ j Sg ; » ~t^oqnetry. < It is strange, thlmgh nevertheless .true, that a virtuous woman prill occasionally encourage, unwittingly, improper addresses. The love) may ask pardon fojf hit indiscretion, but offends again while supplicating for forgiveness. She herself will czcusefhis love on the plea of innot. cent intentions. She will then pity his sufferf ings, while she continues to listen to him as a flatterer; she exhorts" him to fortitude, while ^aocretly admiring his generosity ; and while sbfc -endeavors to inatil|virtue in his mind, she perils her own. When isuch a woman succumbs to seductive ' arts, like Caesar, she displays dignity in her fall! There is nothing more absurd or coquctish, than a woman, pre tending.to be displeased at thb declaration of a love which she has already knpwn to exist; her receiving the visits of an admirer, sanctions the declaration, and proves itito be grateful. The pleasure of being loved, finds its way into every heart and Mad...
