STILL MUD OF BUTTER [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Packer — 13 July 1907

STILL MUD OF BUTTER MINNEAPOLIS TRADE ALLOWING IT TO BE SHIPPED OUT . Good Egg Demand—Minnesota Strawberries Reported Cut Short by Dry Weather—Notes and New * In th . Minneapolis Trade . Minneapolis , July 11 . —The butter market shows an advance for the week on the top grades . The causes that are leading up to the present strong tone are matters of deep Interest to local handlers who have not as yet brought themselves to a point where they can see a profit when the propertime comes for unloading . Most dealers made a neat margin upon their 1906 butter , but they cannot overlook the fact that they sold at a price which is near the present rang .. Those Who waited for over 25 cents last year had their share of worries and they are not disposed to load up heavily at the prices now prevailing . It Is a safe proposition to say that tbe northwest up to date has not been a storer of butter . Most of the goods are going from Minneapolis to the extreme West or East . Whether eastern buyers...

OLD SPUDS DOWN AMI [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Packer — 13 July 1907

OLD SPUDS DOWN AMI SOUTHERN POTATOES IN NEW YORK MEETING GOOD DEMAND . Receipts Increasing Dally and Prices Fluctuate According to Size of Offer-ings-Opened Strong But Declined . • New York , July 12 . —The bottom seems to have fallen completely out of the old potato market and while the stock is quoted at 75 c to $ 1 . 25 , this applies only to the best stock which is generally bought for export to Cuba and other point .. Much of the offerings are of such poor quality that they are not wanted at all , and many cars are being refused as not worth freight and demurrage . A leading handler of old potatoes remarked to The Packer representative that this was a very unusual season for old spuds . There Is hardly ever a time that the stock Is not worth sometiling , • he remarked , but for my part if someone offered to send me carlots for nothing , I would be compelled to turn the stuff down . The receipts of new potatoes were quite liberal , and trading fairly active . On Monday 39 , 833 ...
