A new and strange corps of survey ors are operating to the eastward and sontbeastward of this place. It U re ported that they are U. & M . men. The lloek Island company will build 1,016 miles of railroad this year. The company Iija purchased material for the construction of all lines surveyed and located. The 11. & M. railroad surveyors are at work on a line from Ued Cloud southwest, being at present selecting a route between Kirwin and Smith Cen ter. Kirwin Icdependent. The Smith Center Tioneer says on tha 28th of June, Lan township will vote on the llock Island proposition, and from present indications the people of that township will carry the proposi tion by a handsome majority.
