The Eagle is mistaken in supposing that the intention was to undertake to ""bulldose llr. Smith." It is well known that if Mr. Smith could have had his way, Topeka "would have had Missouri river freight rates a long time ago. Heretofore it has required more than one man or railroad company to settle that question. It has nowprobably settled itself. The comple tion of the Ft. Scott road and the near com pletion of the Rock Wand settles that mat ter. We let the boast as to the comparison of business between Topeka and Wichita go for what it is worth.
