STRAY NOTES. [Newspaper Article] — Adelong and Tumut Express and Tumbarumba Post — 3 August 1900

STRAY NOTES. (By ' The Fugitive.') So, that poor exploder! politician, Sir G. R. Dibbs, said, ' Those of our public men who allowed the exclusion of New South Wales to so into the (Federal) Bill ought to be kicked to Hades,' did he ? Well, if he did, it don't count for much, and only goes to show how unreliable the utterances of G.E.D. are. Once he said he ' looked forward to the establishment of a great Australian -Republic.' He went home, was knighted, and re turned a red-hot Royalist. Afterwards, at Peurith, he said he would repeal the Payment of Members Bill, but he did'nt. He damned Chicago, when the hospitalities of., a friendly nation wero offered him, as the represen tative of New South Wales. And his latest utterance shows either one of two things, namely, that Sir George Dibbs has not read the Commonwealth Bill as amended by the Premiers' Con ference, or that he is not particular when he says things that he thinks will go clown with people who don't know any better. But it...

TARCUTTA. [Newspaper Article] — Adelong and Tumut Express and Tumbarumba Post — 3 August 1900

TARCUTTA. (From oiii1 own Correspondent) The weather here for the hist fort night has been beautiful. Stock are in excellent condition, crops are all in, and the percentage of lambs is far better than during the last seven years ; so our farmers and graziers wear pleasant smiles.] ;?../. Leslie 'GJemson; our. dashing foot baller, had his shoulder put out in the match, Tarcutta v. Wagga, at Wagga on Saturday, July 21. Wagga had a team readied up to handlo Tarcutta roughly, on account of some of the Tavcutta players tolling Wagga that their mode of carrying out the Morgan Cup Competition was neither fair nor sportsmen-like. Anyhow Tarcutta won the Cup, through sheer perse voranco', and when the final comes round Wagga will find Tareutta are ' hard nuts to crack.' Wagga's refe reo did not by any means give satis faction. Those teams again meet at Tarcutta on Saturday, 28th inst., when I expect to see Tarcutta run clean over the ' blue and gold.' The Tarcuttn. players nnd public anxious...
