NERVE STORM [Newspaper Article] — The Queanbeyan Leader — 18 April 1905

NERVE STORM. This is a somewhat fanciful term, for which we lack a satisfactory equiralout io English, We sometimes call the disorder* dok head ache,' and sometimes we ucs the word migraine, or megrim, which are borrowed from the French. Perhaps the diffioulty in seouring a satisfactory name is due to the uncertain notions which have been hdd respecting the disease. For generations it has been supposed to be dependent npon a disordered stomach and liver, and perhaps that is why it is oalled 'sick headache/ Now it 4s believed to be of nervous origin, and bense the term nerve storm. It is also proved to be more or less hereditary and to run io families, aod iodoed it is found to be most frequent In fsmiliee descended from psrents who bsve suffered from epilepsy, insanity, aod olber grave nervous disorders. Some doctors even think that migraiue is an exceedingly mild epileptic attack, just as a , shosk from a gdvtnto battery ia a miniature stroke of lightning. | Tbs symptoms of migrain...

Our share, so far, of the March rains has been small, and only a small area has bene fitted, and where our advice re deep cul tivation and stirring of the soil has been followed, the Wagga exhibit at the late show ought to be proof of the truth of our contention as to the value of cultivation in dry weather. Sow in drills where pos sible, and the fertilizer with the seed, as then a much less quantity is needed and expense lessened) New crops and ne\v methods should be tried each year. April promises to be mild and unsettled, with much thunder weather and some good rainfalls, much Seabreeze, aud some fogs. An early frost or two is probable j aud some squalls at times. Kitchen Garden.— Sow onions* (all kinds), leeks, kolial rabbi, turnijis, lettuce, hcrta, radish, broad beans, cabbage (of sorts suited only). Small sowings of other vegetables may be tried. F...
