Bergalia. [Newspaper Article] — The Moruya Times and South Coast Journal — 28 August 1889

Bergalia News from this part of the district is not very plentiful, but that is no reason why the little light whichitdoespossesshouldbealwnys hid under a bushel. Bergalia is by no means an insignificant industrial centre, some of tbe nest dairy farmers )n the district being es tablished in its immediate neighbourhood. The village itself sometimes assumes a vory busy appearance, wnat with the passing traffic on (he main southern road, and the local traific between the neighbouring farms and the local stores, of which tbore are two, both apparently doing a thriving business. This mine is spoken of as a good payable property, tbe gold is well distributed through tho stone, tbo casing also being tnriferoas. At the 160 feet level the gold shows freely, the reef still maintaining Sic same position as on the surface. Other gold bearing veins were cat in tho tunnel. Tho trninul is about 200 feet in length and has about ICO feet of backs. Driving south on the lode, there is a reef of considerable width with two horses of mullock between, making threo divisions of stone, iho western division of stone being the only one worked previous to tlie arrival of the Victoria Manager, Mr. E. Capos. This new discovery shows payable prospects, the manager has men in the upper workings blocking ont stone. Tho vein varies from 1 foot to 2 feet 6 iucbes in width, and shows good gold...
