After the huBk has turned brown, when the grain is out of the milk, and while tho blades and stalks above the ear remain green, the corn should be cut and shocked in the field. Fodder, when cut before the blades have become dry, and cured in shock, makes the best and most whole some feed that can be provided for cattlo in winter. Well cured corn fodder is one cf the best of milk feeds, being equal to the best clover hay. Cattle, old and young, eat it with much avidity in dry, frosty weather, or when fed in dry stables in wet weather; but do not relish it in damp "giving" weather if fed out iu the open field, but scattered on a clean dry sod in clear weat...

This little creature is a dc atroyer of the aphis, commonly called plant-louse or grccn-fly, although the latter is a misnomer, as the males only aro wiuged.
