As I drove through it, sit ting on the machine and cutting my first swath, I observed that herd's grass tlood nearly to the top of the hortet' lack. I collected and measured somo of it, and found it four feet and nine inchet high. This was brought in by drain age alone! The cold wator underneath was merely led away, and this wss the teialtt I cannot certaitily decide, but the strong probability is, that this mesdow, or "run," had been annuslly mowed for a hundred yearn, without being plowed.
