The writer is what he subscribes himself, and we arc at liberty to give bis name, if this or any of his own statements are questioned. 'That there is a concerted plan amonj the Whig politicians and editors, to assail Gov. Whitcomb with the grossest falsehoods in relation to the volunteers, and that this plan was concocted and agreed upon while Mr. .Marshall was last at Indianapolis, we have every reason to brieve. Thoss men knew, that without some new theme for vituperation and deception, their cause was hopelcsi. Upon all the old issues, they had been soundly beaten, and were sure to be beaten again. It was for this reason that Orth backed off the track for Lt.
