Ihc Jlailj appeal. A REMARKABLE SUICIDE. —The Mountain Messenger contains the particulars of the suicide of Pierre Ste. Marie, at La Porte, on the evening of Saturday week. The self murder was committed with a pistol, which he discharged into his right ear. The following directions ond letters prove that he must have been the victim of partial insanity : l'leusc send this letter to address, and also my pistol. I have got forty dollars in my belt, besides what 1 have got in uiy purse—that will he enough to tiike cure of my body. POLICE COURT. —Three parties were to have been tried in the Police Court yesterday for discharging fire-arms in the streets, but they forfeited their bail bv not appearing. CAUGHT STEALING. —A young man who has been employed in the store of a merchant of this city for some time past, so conducted himself as in arouse the suspicions of his employer as to his honesty. The vonnir man's rooms were examined and found to contain a considerable quantity of articles stolen from his employer and from others, lie was told yesterday, that lie must leave town at an early hour to-day, or * warrant would be served on him. He will probably leave. He is quite young and of prepossessing appearance. TK f HiC. [BY VNtON TKLKORAPH UNB|. REPORTED FOR TDK MAKYSVILIJE BAILT APPEAL. San FrmicUco Hewn, SAN FRANCISCO. Mar, (sth. Four Frenchmen were dangerously poisoned, yesterday. One of them who officiated as cook, while cooking their dinner, had occasion to use some flour j finding about live pounds of arsenic which had been left in the house by a previous occupant, which he mistook for flour, he used it. The whole pariy partook heartily of the meal. Shortly afterwards, they were all taken ill. Dr. Haine was called in and discovered what they had been eating, and administered the proper antidotes. Owing to the very large quantity of arsenic eaten, it would not remain on their stomachs, and there lives were thcrebv saved. The bark Nakumkeag outward bound, yesterday afternoon, came in contact with the French ship Colbert, which was lying at anchor off Meiggs Wharf.
