THE OLDEST LOCK. [Newspaper Article] — Healesville and Yarra Glen Guardian — 14 December 1900
0o The oldest lock in existence is one which formerly secured one of the doors of Nineveh. It is a gigantic afl.ir, and the key to it, which is as large as one man can conveniently car:y, reminds one of the Scriptual ,passage, where the Prophet macle re ference to such instruments being carried on the shoulder. Thie exact words( referred to are "And the key to the house of David I will lay upon his shoulder." This enormous key is nearly 31 feet in length, and of the thickness of a 4-inch drain-tile. It was found at the end of a ruined chiamber, where a large wooien door had probably once stood, the gigantic brass hingers and heavy bars being still in fair coxdition though somewhat corroded.
