A CURIOUS COMIUAL CRANE. As most of the boys of the village know, ' New Chum is & writer of great erudition, and his articles are deep and wondrous productions, requiring great research and compiling, to jerk them off, cousoquenlly when off the chain, he Beets forgctfiifuess in the flowing bowl, that is long slecvcr* ; or lulls back on tbo light literature of the Holurt Gazette, where in tile rollicking rough and tumble of ?' WEST COAST MAILS TO THE EDITOR. [Newspaper Article] — Zeehan and Dundas Herald — 8 April 1891

WEST COAST MAILS. TO THE CDITOB. Sir,— Several letters in your Monday's issue show the cureless manner in which the muil bags are thrown about, anil the cause of much of the delay of mails to RUil from Stralmn anil Zeelian. There is smother item I would add to (he list of complaints. Before the removal of the post-office from the Ksptanadc to Duck Creek tfce mail used to arrive on Sunday afternoons, but now, under the new system ' of mail conveyance, it only gets as lar as tJie Henty, and as no trains ntn ou Sun ' days, jt 'lies about then— perhaps in the chaff-plied— until Monday morning, when, I suppose, some thoughtful man puts it in the train, and we have it about noon ou Monday — if our luck is in. Apart from the mail conveyance, I would like to ask the -quiet nud sublimely patieut people of Strahan if they are going to submit to the post-office being opened at 8.30 p.m. dur ing the dark winter nights, when the mail steamer arrives between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. ? ~ The overland mai...
