('ot Ut'llt i:Or1'olt o i SOfiW?t.l. Attetii'isro.) Sit,--Be good enough to allow me to answer a letter that appeared in your paper on the 3rd of this month, signed Mosquito. If Mosquito had any know ledge of the church business he would know there are two separate accounts in the Presbiterian Church-the one a stipend fund, and tile other a building fund, of which Mr, 1). Waldo. antd my self are trrasers. As the meetilng he speaks about was not a congregational nite, it was il nlo sentle lIecessary to Sobillllt statemellllt of the sustentaotiol fund. Mr. Wahlon dealt with every item in connection with the buihling of the church, Yours truly, J. ISINTOUL.

The Morwell 'Advertiser.' VOX POPULI. (PUBLISHED EVERY SATURDAY). SATURDAY, DECEMBER 24, 1887. MORWELL, YINNAR & YARRAM RAILWAY LEAGUE. [Newspaper Article] — Morwell Advertiser and Weekly Chronicle — 24 December 1887

IOX POPULI. (P'UIILISIIED EVEIRY SATURDAY). SATURDAY, DECEMBRE 24, 19s887. a MORWELL, YINNAR1. & YARRAM RAILWAY LEAGUE. iWe are pleased to observe the spirit unimating the Morwell. Yinnar and uYarram ItRailway League. At the meet ing on Wednesday last, a resolt.tion was anliý7a .n4, Llaneaw surl ve hounl bi lnn.10 by a competent railway engineer as y early as possible, and, that the league would hear the cost. Certainly, a defi e nite promise has been given by the Go vernment, that the survey would be made this surnmmer. Without relyingon e the promise given by our too paternal Government, the league deems that the S work should be set about at once, and not submlit to the delay, which always occurs in connection with all Govern ment undertakings. Much further de lay at this timte of the year might be disastrous. The work of survey should be pushed on as vigorously as possible, while the summer lasts, as, if not done during the summer, the work will be thrown back for anothe...

YINNAR TO YARRAM RAILWAY LEAGUE. [Newspaper Article] — Morwell Advertiser and Weekly Chronicle — 24 December 1887

YI%NAR TO YARRAM RAILWAY LEAGUE : A committeet mtetilg of the above Iaogue totok place in the LMechallies' lstitute on . Wednesday last. There was a. good attendance present; the Pre-ident. of the Leagiie in tile chair. 'iThe present position of the League, with reference to the promise made by the Premier that a trialiurvev would be made this stirmier. wa. considered. It was generally- deemed desirable--, that the League should take indepen dent action in the matter. It was pointed oltt, that, owing to the exer tions of Cr. Fiirmin, and the Presidleit, a sum of £80 had been voted to the survey of tle track by the Traralgon Shire. It might be confidently expected that the Albertolr Shire would t'al> liberally subsidise the the movement if the umatter were laid before them. Tl.e amount that could be raised by these subsidies and the tnember's subscriptions would be enough to wnarant themn pro ceeding with the surrey of the track, under an experienced railway engineer. WALHALLA. [Newspaper Article] — Morwell Advertiser and Weekly Chronicle — 24 December 1887

(From our own Correspondent). Mining seems to be improving steadily in this district in general. During the past fortnight, the rise being put up from the 100 feet, level in the New Blue Jacket G. M. Co. intercected a fine body of stone 6 feet thick of good payable character. On Saturday Mr Carkeek, the mining   manager, arrived in Walhalla with stone, rich with the precious metal interspersed throulh it, The shoot appears to be dipping south, and the lower level will require to be driven 46 feet south to meet it. The prospects of this mine are of a most encouraging character   The Toombhon G. M1. Co. h:avn completed sinking their shalt and puttingin pumtps. A contract has been let for driving 400 feet and rexcavating a lhamher, Thle tield for the tmonth is 535 on 8dwts from 738 tons of stune. CurlsrTsA.s has come and gone and, although we are not able to maintain the festivities as our forefathers did, around the Yule Log. yet our sunny land affords ns facilities for enjoyment, of which we largely avail ourselves. Our wish for all is that a Merry Christmas has been spent, and that the enjoyment has been wholly unalloyed. Although the week has been given to rejoicing,-and in that spirit we desire to enter upon the New Year,-yet we cannot refrain from the serious contemplation of the duties and requirements of the coming year, which, indeed, is inseparable. It is in the Noew Qear that our new resolves and aspirations are formned. In the reflection of what has been accomplished in the past our feelings cannot ie otherwise than of bright anticipation and jnyous hope in the future protoects of our town. This conviction is forced upon us by the progress and prosperi...
