I can get up in a morning refreshed by the night's rest and can eat a good breakfast, whereas before taking the medicine I scarcely ever could eat anything, and when I did it nearly always made me vomit, but now I am quite well and have been so for five months. THE WOOL MARKET. [Newspaper Article] — Yea Chronicle — 17 December 1891

THE WOOL MARKET. Messrs. D.AuT?T and Co]1ra.T, LIIITElD, report on the 14th December: We held our usual weekly wool sale to day, before a full muster of buyers, t- whom we submitted a catalogue of 4,500 bua., in. eluding clips drawn from all the colonies, and ranging in quality from the lowest grades of fleece, worth about 5d per lb., to the choicest Western Vietorian greasy wools, which realised, under keen competi tion, up to 1551. We had a very successful sale, the market ruling strong at previously quoted values, though prices cannot be qnoted any higher. Crossbred wools of all sorts were in particularly good den'aud, and medium and inferior wools were also steady at last week's rates, huyers of these descrip tions operating with more confdence. Washed and scoured wools were well com peted for, and values were fully maintained. For greasy wool we realise to-day as high as 15~1, which was obtained for a choice lot of Western district merino lambs, while for superior merino fleece...

CRICKET. NORTH BROADFORD V. YEA. [Newspaper Article] — Yea Chronicle — 17 December 1891

CEICKET. NORTH BROADFORD F. YEA. A cnscarr S.lreC between North Broad ford and Yea was played on the latter's pitch on Saturday. Howden captained the visitors, and Burns the local men. Broad ford were successful in winning the toss, and took the wickets first. They made a fair stand against the Yea bowlers, and when the last wicket fell the score totalled 84, Eaton playing a good defensive cricket, heading the list with 4- to his credit, but he was the only batsman who got into double figures. Yea then took the wickets, but play had not proceeded far when a thunder storm burst over the scene, and the wickets had to be abandoned for a considerable time. When play re-commenced runs were rapidly made by the Yeaites, and at the call of "Time" they had lost only four wickets for 122 runs, Burns, who played a brilliant innings, making 41 (not out); Barrett 28, Wilson 17, Robinson 15, and Grantham 11 (not out) also batted in fine style. Yea thus won the mctch by six wickets and 3S runs. Mr...

SPRING VALLEY V. FLOWERDALE. [Newspaper Article] — Yea Chronicle — 17 December 1891

SPRING VALLEY V. FLOWERDALE. A well-contested match was played on Saturday last between elevens of the Spring Valley and Flowerdale Cricket Clubs. on the ground of the latter, resulting in a win for the Spring Valley men by 16 runs. As it was the maiden appearance of this team in the cricket field, their performance on Saturday was a highly creditable one; it also clearly indicates that with a moderate amount of practice they would be "bad to beat." The coin was spun about half-past two o'clock, and the captain of the Flower dale C.C. winning the toes, decided to send his opponents to the wickets. The first five batsmen were not very euccessaful, but upon the Messrs. Dwyer getting together, a much better stand was made, and runs came freely. At this epoch of the game the rain, which had been falling lightly for Some time, began to descend ma torrents, and the players were unwillingly driven to shelter. After about half an hour it became finer, and upon the sun coming forth the pitch...

KING PARROT CREEK. [Newspaper Article] — Yea Chronicle — 17 December 1891

._G _A.€.T M.. _ (PFoa ous owt CO?ESPrODEnE-T.). Os Wednesday, the 2nd inst., we were visited by an exceptionally heavy thunder storm, the heat during the day being intense. About three o'clock, however, very heavy peals of thunder were heard, and a few minutes later rain and hail commenced to fall in torrents. The rain proved a god-send - to the farmers. The hills in this district are drier than I have seen them for many years. Now that the creamery is let, everyone is looking anxiously forward to the contrretor making a start, and hope the Newv Year rill see it in full swing. Two blacksmiths have started husiness in anticipation of plenty of trade. Advance Strath Creek ! Mass s was celebrated in the local clapel by the Rev. Father Hoe.mi, of Kilmore, recently. I believe the Roman Catholics are about to set other denominations here a good example, by feneing in their neat little chapel, and by adding a few more seats. Mass will again be celebrated on the last day of the "good old y...
