The revenue for next year is estimated at ^1,324,087 and the expenditure at £1,854,342 4s. 2d. so that the deficit ib likely to be larger the longer it is left. It is therefore high time that something should bs done to alter this state of things and taere 13 simply the choice between retrenchment. and additional taxation. 'So'w we believe that the former expedient could be readily resorted to but tho Govern ment instead of redacing are increasing expenditure which will be over £100,000 more this yeav than last.
