Spring ceaaireg time is a g-od one for insp?ciing the natta upon whlch the pictures are hung, tha screws and wedges that secure braes rods, and the picture cords, so as to avoid mbihaps. Valuable pictures should only be cleaned by those who thoroughly understan the work. Oil pa'ntlnge may be rubbed with a few drops of sweet oil on a soft old silk pocket handkerchief., It the Eliding has been flyblown, It may be cleaned by sponging it Over rapidly with warm water, leav?ag it to dry at a safe di.stne from the fire, and then covering it with a strong solution of gum arabic, put on with a soft camel's-hair brush.
