TUMUT. [Newspaper Article] — The Gundagai Times and Tumut, Adelong and Murrumbidgee District Advertiser — 12 December 1868

TUilUT. freOH OtTB C0ERE8P0NDENT.1 December IOtij. — Since my last report we have experienced a refreshing rainfall, which commenced last Friday forenoon, and continued till near evening. The same night a thunder storm passed over Tumut, and such heavy rain fell that the next morning standing pools of water might be seen in many places. Tho change produced in the weather is delightful; we now enjoy a continuous cool breeze, which, after the late sultry heats, is most invigorating. Large flocks of sheep are daily pausing through, our township. A certain sanguine gentleman of my ac quaintance often tells me that, in his opinion, Tumut is destined to become the Ballarat of New South Wales, to which assertion, though somewhat of a visionary nature, ' respond a willing amen. If there is uncertainty as regards our auriferous treasures, facts which have oome under my own knowledge lead me to believe it to be within the bounds of proba bility, and in no degree hypothetical, to assert that a...

, APELOXQ. (PROM OUB COKUKSPONDENT.) December lOra.-j-We have had an agreeable change of weather j and cool breezes since I last wrote, caused by a seasonable rainfall on Friday night last.
