The Magic Lantern by Phil Quinn The Fugitive Kind The Fugitive Kind pretends to be the Orpheus myth as narrated by Tennessee Williams . The author utilizes this myth in an attempt to give structure and significance to an otherwise amorphous tale of the destruction of an artist at the hands of the sordid and bigoted conventions of the Southern way of life . This theme is portrayed with great distinction in the performance of Marlon Brando , Anna Magnani , and Joanne Woodward . However , this flaw , though...

Fathers And Sons Hear Fr . Sellinger The Father-Son weekend came to a close last Sunday , with a breakfast in New South Cafeteria , highlighted by a speech by Father Sellinger which treated with several of the affairs and problems of the University . Father began by telling the assemblage of his proposal to the Executive Board of the University that the area vacated by Marty s cafeteria in White—Gravenor be converted into a Rathskeller in which , having the proper atmosphere , students and instructors could meet to exchange views and remedy difficulties . After due consideration , the Executive Board rejected the proposal but gave the impression that if the proper accommodations were at their disposal somewhere off campus , they might regard the idea more favorably . In place of a rathskeller , Father Sellinger is presently trying to work out some plan whereby a dry Copley lounge would serve the same social function without infringing on what might be called squatter s rights of the...

Council Capers by Bill Gargaro Several people were slugged right in their Copley Lounge last Wednesday evening . Myself , to name just a few . But we all had good reason to be shocked , I think . You see , the meeting centered around an irate letter from the Fairfax County Park Authority . And if this column reads with a slightly snider tone than usual , its only because I feel that the letter failed to include an over abundance of terrifically Fair-facts . The Fairfax County Park Authority is proud of the reputation it has established for the attractiveness of its Great Falls Park , the letter began modestly , and the manner in which it is enjoyed by children and adults alike . Apparently , however , the Authority is not proud of how it is enjoyed by a certain group of atrophied adolescents because it goes on to tab Georgetown University as the one serious source of undesirable conduct , vandalism , and violation of regulations occurring in the park . Well , maybe it s true . Maybe...
