THE FIGURES ARE OFFICIAL They Show a Great Increase In Popu lation and Wealth In the Last Two Tears. A neat little card has just been issued by the Territorial State hood league containing "a few reasons why New Mexico should be admitted" and then follows a fund of data told in terse para graphs which was compiled from official figures taken from U. S. and territorial record-, says the Santa Fe New Mexican. The card is a very good adver tisement as it tersely describes the rapid growth of the territory and its resources. HELPED TO TURN THE TIDE Agent Directed to Keep Their Re ren te 'n Local Banks for Horn.' Circulation. Topeka, Kas., Dec. 31. Since the financial stringency through out the country set in, the Santa Fe Railway, to insure the prompt payment of its employees along the line, monthly, and to main tain public confidence, has caus ed its agents to depesit llu-ir dai ly receipts of cash and .lu-ck in the local banks. The usual tule is for the Treasurer of the Com pany to collect the money daily, by express delivery, the local banks using the pay checks as exchange and getting the cash back later. But this took the money away from home, and, if followed during the stringency, would have kept it away indefin itely; and so, November 7, E. L.
