THE FAIR PLAY. STE. GENEVIEVE, wissoum. The Chinese Ambassadress. The wife of the Chinese Ambassador to the French Republic recently attend ed a party at a private house in Paris. A London newspaper thns describes her appearaucft: As at lirst seen, moving forward in her heavily lined dress, she looked like the mure animating principle of a bale of silk. Her black hair was strained back from the face, to finish off in a wondrous artistic confusion of pins and fent intra at the back- She is several shade darker than her lord: and a thick impvslo of white powder struggles un successfully with this natural gloom. It is the honestest painting ever seen there is that to be said for it: as scorn ful of all concealment as the painting of a clotvn, which it is so much resembles in its thickness and its sickly white.
